Changing Generations is one of the leading provider of semi-independent accommodation for families and children across London and the home counties.

We work in close partnership with numerous Local Authorities. In the last 10 years that we have worked within the care and support sections, we have gained knowledge, experience and understanding of what is required to provide exceptional care, support and accommodation to vulnerable young people and their babies by empowering young mothers in caring and supporting their children.

What makes us different?

At Changing Generations our mission is to support young mothers to develop the knowledge and skills they need to be effective and loving parents, leading to a better life for them and their babies. Our mother and baby units support this vision by providing a safe, nurturing, and aspirational environment that equips our young mothers to work towards independent living. Working collaboratively with the local authority, we empower our young mothers to fulfil their roles and successfully reintegrate into society. We believe if you build and cultivate strong adults then our children of tomorrow will be confident, resilient, and dynamic.

Transition & Life Skills Support

We are passionate about the issues that affect mothers and babies today. This is why we have set up a specialist mother and baby services to develop and assist them with their core needs. We provide a step-by-step change program that will enhance the current skills of mothers and babies.

Accommodation for Young People

The type of accommodation we offer varies depending on our client. Our staff will always support young people to work towards their goals and build their confidence for the future regardless of the supported housing they live in. To maintain the standard of our homes, we conduct annual inspections in line with Ofsted standards and ratings.

Supportive & Customized Programs

We develop individual programs tailored to each of our care leaver’s needs. We guide and teach parenting skills to young mothers and we believe it is the parents responsibility to look after their child/children as they will need to do so when they leave our service

Resident S & Baby D

Coming to CG wasn’t in my plans, but I appreciate that it was part of my journey. I was there for about 7 or 8 months and came a long way. One of the things that I struggled with was balancing my new life now that I was a teenage mum. Being at CG, I learnt that It's important that I do things the right way, even though doing right isn’t always easy. I learnt that being accountable is stepping up and something that I can instill in my child. Staff helped me to remember and attend appointments. They helped me look after my baby and loved her as if we were a little family. My Support Worker has been great and I have appreciated our fun loving cultural connection. Thanks to their support, I have a balance and routine for myself and my child. I am now able to engage more with professionals, and I have stepped up as a Mother. My child is no longer under child protection with social services. Staff encouraged me when I was on track, but also held me accountable if I strayed slightly. During tough times, the staff were solution focused and always asked how they could better support me and my child. I’ll miss the warm, loving atmosphere where everyone just works together. I really want to say a HUGE thankyou to staff J and A for their resilience. It is largely because of their support that I am leaving CG with my baby. I love you so much and we’ve come a long way.

The past 6 months have been a rollercoaster and I would do it all again if it meant gaining my CG family. I made strong connections and learnt many things from every member of staff. The most valuable advice that I got was to be honest with yourself and others. I have said repeatedly that I wish that I did this from the beginning, but we move. I was supported by CG in every way. They helped me value the quality of my mental health more, and practice self love and affirmations. We did physical fitness sessions with one of the therapists on the weekend. Most importantly, they helped me care for my baby and now I feel more confident to do it independently. These basic skills added value. My support worker taught me to be mature, patient and honest. I have improved in the ways that I manage my mental health and I feel empowered to continue. The trauma and the past does not define me and understanding this has made me a better Mother and better person. I was encouraged often and given a very special award by CG for my progress. My concerns or anxieties were always heard and addressed. I was always made to feel like I had support if I needed it. I’ll miss the food, the parties and most importantly - All of you. You have become my family. Baby J loves you too. Thank you very much for each of your support. I know that I wasn’t the easiest but it’s all love.
